Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a molecule that helps cells produce energy and repair DNA. It’s also involved in regulating gene expression and other cellular functions.
Studies have found that NAD+ supplementation has significantly decreased and/or maintained BMI in patients that combine it with regular diet and exercise. This nonhormonal coenzyme helps the body increase adiponectin, a protein hormone that allows the body to break down excess carbs and fat. NAD+ levels decrease significantly as we age, so this supplement is especially helpful for older individuals that are interested in maintaining their metabolism as they age.
